6 Essential Items Every Outdoor Enthusiast Needs

We live in a world of great technology that has taken over almost all aspects of our lives. And sometimes, we just need to simply unplug and get back to nature. Not only is the great outdoors liberating, but it also has health benefits, with many people living in metropolitan areas taking up regular therapeutic walks in the woods for their wellbeing.

Then we have the natural outdoor enthusiasts who spend more time in nature either camping or hiking; not for health reasons but because they enjoy nature in its entirety.

Nature is wild and unpredictable with different weather conditions that affect your stay outdoors. This is why all outdoor enthusiasts are always prepared with the following:

Bottoms/ pants

For those heading out into the wild, outdoor pants are a comfortable and practical article of clothing. Their versatility makes them better suited for hiking, backpacking, and other outdoor pursuits. They are so much better than jeans which are unhelpful in harsh conditions and can even be dangerous, especially when they get wet.

Depending on the weather conditions and the activity you are undertaking outdoors, you may choose to have the quick-drying and lightweight pants, usually made from a nylon material which is best for hiking and backpacking.

But if you are camping outside in cold weather, you should consider waterproof pants that will keep you warm and cozy even if you sit in the snow.

Whilst the climate of your destination may be warm enough that jackets seem unnecessary, the weather is unpredictable and may change in the blink of an eye.

A good jacket is windproof, waterproof, and is easily packable in case you have to take it off along the way, making sure that you are prepared for any weather that may pop up during your outdoor adventure.

Well, it is not practical to go out in nature barefoot. You may step in all manner of things out there; small stones, thorns, insects, and even animal poop. The ideal type of footwear will be determined by three things;

  • The weather conditions – you will require waterproof and durable footwear for rainy and snowy weather while hiking sandals and sneakers will do for the summer outdoor adventures.
  • Personal preference – a good outdoor shoe is well-fitting and comfortable. Most hiking boots come with ankle support and traction which are perfect for rocky and elevated terrains.

Most people are not aware of this, but the underwear that you wear outside matters a lot. As such, cotton underwear is not suitable for outdoor activities. This is because cotton generally absorbs sweat making you uncomfortably wet.

It would be wise to choose underwear made from other materials such as polyester or nylon that will move moisture away from your body and prevent chafing.

All outdoor activities require hats. The hat will keep the sun off your neck and head in hot weather and it will also keep your head warm and dry during the cold and rainy season. Hats can be both practical and durable while being fashionable as well.

The best shirts for outdoor activities are those made from wicking fabric that draws moisture away from your body, keeping you dry and comfortable. Again, avoid cotton shirts. Shirts made from merino wool, polyester, or synthetic material are best. This is because they are breathable, keeping you cool and dry.

Whether you are going for a hike, camping, working outdoors, or even forest bathing, you need to be well-prepared to deal with the weather conditions. This is why you need to pay proper attention to what you wear outside. You can be fashionable as well as practical when choosing your outdoor wear.
